One of a dozen(ish) therapists in the state of New York to have a board certification in sports.

Early in her career, Marisa spent 5 years working for conventional physical therapy clinics where 3-4 patients were seen an hour. She was frustrated with the slow results and felt if she has more time with the clients her work would be amplified. Turning her clients over to an assistant to do their exercises after 15 minutes was also a source of trouble. No assistant has the expertise of a therapist. Plus, she wondered what was the point of wasting this time at therapy when those exercises could be done at home? Even the gym equipment they utilized seemed simply to keep the patient ‘busy’ so they could bill the insurance, and not have to provide a professional service with a therapist. She struck out on her own and that’s how DASH began.
